Been glued to the monitor reading forums for 3 days now after i noticed this xenon upgrade possibilty,Įxcept for the GPU rest is from December 2008, not that much to lose i figure. Im not that good at overclocking anymore, forgot a lot. Been reading a lot (not all) of this thread and other threads about the Xenon x58 cpu's. Dollarbfir dollar, what's the best option? I don't want to save money for substandard performance. Basically, $100 for Dell or $200 for another variety. Is it truly good enough though? It LOOKS cheaper than other varieties. Mobo: Burpo linked a Dell 730x Mobo that apparently over clocks well. Processor: is there any benefit to getting an x5670? Or should I just go with x5650? I feel as if the cpu is still holding me back though. I got my geound zeroes fps up to 60 on ultra, no matter what resolution was being pumped out. I can do more I'm sure but I did it qui K and dirty. I managed to over clock the 920 to 3.4ghz. However I turned on AMDs super resolution downscaling and discovered my fps was the same at 2560x1600 as it was 1080p. At stock the fps on HD was only x2 that of my 960m laptop. I was getting 40-45 fps in movement/action in mgsv ground zeroes and 55fps in grim Dawn when in town. I'm obviously limited by the DX58SO Mobo and i7-920 at stock speeds. I slapped it in to my PC just to see where I was at. I recently purchased a sapphire nitro r9 fury tri-x, 16gb ram, and a 1000w. OK so I'm entering the final stages od my PC build and having been in-between jobs throughout this project it's about damn time. I have taken a copy of Burpo's settings from page 101 of this thread and intend to try them once I am sure my cooling is adequate. My second question is can anyone who has a stable overclocked X5670 on a sabertooth X58 (Burpo maybe?) supply me with their full settings for the AI Tweaking page of the bios or if not give me a clue about which are the important settings to change from auto. So I intend to transfer the motherboard and remaining guts into a new Deepcool Dukase case and install a Corsair H110 AIO to see if this gives me better results.Īnyway my first question is what is the likely maximum BCLK I can set on the X5670 without needing to change any other bios parameters? My cooler a Thermaltake model I believe may also be hampering my overclock. It has also been mentioned that maybe having 6 sticks of 2Gb Corsair XMS3 memory to give me 12Gb ram might also effect my ability to overclock. Now my trouble is that I have had no success overclocking the i7-930 following any of the guides in the past and have always wondered if I just got the duff board or processor.

Having stumbled upon this thread last week whilst looking at what upgrades were available to me being the owner of a Sabertooth X58 and an i7-930 processor (at least 5 years old now) I decided to purchase an X5670 processor off eBay UK for £60.
